Another fantastics forties design, 1946 to be precise, this one was dreamt up by Richard Neutra. It maximises the space available by using sliding glass doors (pretty much ubiquitous now…but a relatively new concept in housing way back then). It was designed to link the indoors to the outdoors, and is perfectly executed.

The glass and covered walkways linking areas and zones of the house are ideas that have stood the test of time. Having separate bits of the house for staff perhaps not so much – although I don’t live in the realm of the super rich so this may still be the norm!
